Ashok Vaid, MD, DM

Dr. Ashok Kumar Vaid, a Padma Shri awardee and distinguished Medical Oncologist, is renowned for establishing one of North India’s largest private-sector stem cell transplant programs. He earned a doctorate in Medical Oncology from The Tamil Nadu Dr. MGR Medical University in 1993 and currently serves as Chairman of the Medanta Cancer Institute at Medanta, The Medicity, in Gurugram, India. With over 32 years of clinical experience, Dr. Vaid specializes in cancer genomics, immunotherapy guidance, precision onco-therapeutics, dendritic cell therapy, and stem cell transplants. A prolific researcher, he has authored numerous peer-reviewed articles and has served as Principal Investigator in more than 60 national and international studies. He is also a registered postgraduate teacher with the National Board of Examinations and an examiner for super-specialty medical oncology courses. His previous affiliations include AIIMS New Delhi, Government Medical College Jammu, Rajiv Gandhi Cancer Institute, and Artemis Health Institute. Dr. Vaid’s accolades include the 2009 Padma Shri and the 2023 Lifetime Achievement Award from the Indian Society of Medical & Pediatric Oncology. He is a member of several esteemed organizations, including ISO, ISMPO, ICON, BCFI, IAGO, IMA, API, IACM, and ESMO.
